KACCAD
Uganda - KACCAD
Under the leadership of Mr. Derrick Luwaga, the Kyosiga Community Christian Association for Development (KACCAD) has, for more than 15 years, been a strong agent of development in Wakiso District (northwest of Kampala). Reflecting a genuine sense of local ownership, KACCAD serves orphans, widows, child-raised families, those living with HIV/AIDS, the impoverished and the infirm.
With the support and participation of the larger community, KACCAD provides training and education in areas such as hygiene, sanitation, reproductive health, child rearing, nutrition, livestock raising, irrigation, gardening, small businesses, and other income-producing projects. “Before we lift a finger to begin any project,” says Derrick, “we make sure we have local support and investment.” Small wonder the Director of the U.S. Peace Corps (Washington, D.C.) made a personal visit to this ministry.
Over the years, WGLO partners have provided scholarships to selected elementary, secondary, and university students. We’ve also helped fund income-producing projects such as poultry, charcoal production, and fruit-vegetable sales. We’re currently trying to assist Derrick in the construction of his clinic/volunteer center.
